Better Boaters Start With Better Training

Total Marine Academy was born from my life as a teacher, captain, husband, and father. After 20 years as a high school teacher, I have learned how important clear guidance, patience, and hands-on practice are when helping people build confidence. As a husband and father of six, my family is a lake family, and boating is a meaningful part of our life together. I have also spent several years as a charter boat captain. During that time, I saw too many preventable accidents caused by boaters who lacked the knowledge and experience to handle their vessels safely. Those experiences made one thing clear: boating education should go beyond rules and theory. People need practical training that prepares them for real situations on the water. I created Total Marine Academy to help boat owners become safer, more capable, and more confident. Through private, hands-on instruction on Lake Travis, Lake Austin, and other local waterways, we connect classroom knowledge with real-world boat handling. Our goal is simple—to help families enjoy the lake responsibly and build a community of skilled, safety-minded boaters.

Why Hands-On Training Matters

Online and classroom boating education are important for learning rules and regulations. Our role is to complement that knowledge with practical, on-the-water training. By working with you on your own boat in real conditions, we help turn information into confident action.

Hands-On Boat Training for Real-World Conditions

Total Marine Academy was established to help boat owners feel safer, calmer and more in control every time they leave the dock. Our instructors focus on practical skills, clear communication and safety-first decision-making so you can enjoy your time on the water with family and friends.
