New Boat Owner Training
Congratulations on your new boat. Now let’s make sure you feel comfortable and confident behind the wheel. Our New Boat Owner Training gives you private, hands-on instruction on your own boat so you can understand your controls, systems and safety equipment on your boat.
Training sessions are 5 hours for $799, with extra hours available when scheduling allows.
Learn Your Boat
Get a full, hands-on walk-through of your new boat so you know what every major control, system and piece of equipment does before you leave the dock.
Master Your Dash and Helm Systems
Practice using your throttle, steering, trim and key helm controls so you can operate your boat smoothly and safely in real-world conditions.
Learn to Dock Your Boat
Work on slow-speed control, approach angles and leaving the dock so you can bring your boat in and out of slips and docks with more confidence.
Slow-Speed Maneuvering
Practice precise handling in marinas and tight spaces so you can maneuver safely around other boats and obstacles.
Anchoring
Learn how to choose a good anchoring spot, set the anchor correctly and make sure your boat stays secure.
Safety Equipment
Review the safety gear on your boat so you know where everything is, how it works and when to use it.
Passenger Safety
Learn how to brief your family and guests so everyone on board understands basic safety and how to move around the boat safely.
Safety Protocols
Practice basic emergency responses and man-overboard procedures so you’re better prepared if something unexpected happens.
Electronics & Navigation Basics
Demystify your onboard electronics and navigation tools so you can use them with confidence on your local lakes.
Launching & Retrieval
When appropriate, your training can include trailer, ramp and retrieval practice so you feel more confident at the boat ramp.
New Boat Owner Training
At Total Marine Academy, we bridge the gap between reading about boating and actually operating your boat with confidence. Our instructors focus on practical, hands-on skills that help you feel in control on the water.
You will practice in the same types of real-world conditions you’ll experience with your family and friends on board.
No matter your current experience level, we’ll meet you where you are and build your skills step by step so you can enjoy your boat more and worry less.
